The Charmery Announces Plans to Expand Production and Retail at Union Collective

Baltimore, MD (June 20, 2017) – Hampden’s beloved ice cream parlor, The Charmery, best known for its imaginative and Baltimore-themed flavors, today announced it will be moving all production and opening a second location at Union Collective when it opens next year. Dubbed “The Ice Cream Factory,” it will utilize 5,500 square feet for expanded production, retail operations, and event space. A promo video of the announcement can be viewed here: (insert link).

“When the Union crew approached us about moving production over to their new space, it solved a problem we had been thinking about, which was, how do we responsibly and thoughtfully grow our business and brand,” said David Alima, Master Creamer and Co-owner of The Charmery. “As much as we love our current home, our production space is only big enough to make product for our existing shop. Opening at Union Collective will enable us to open an additional ice cream shop for our beautiful customers, and have the room we need to do events and catering, not to mention the amount of crazy flavor experimentation we plan to do there. We want to blow minds and take ice cream to the far reaches of the time space continuum. For those worried, rest assured, our corner shop on The Avenue is remaining open and will never ever close.”

“It’s amazing to live your dream and even more exciting to be able to expand upon your dream. Coming from an event background, it was natural to put together The Charmery’s Ice Cream Social experience, which brings our ice cream outside the four walls of our shop to office celebrations, weddings, and mitzvahs. But now, at Union Collective, we have room to grow this business without the space constraints we have in our shop on The Avenue,” added The Charmery’s Co-owner Laura Alima.

“Union Collective was created for businesses like The Charmery—a homegrown, hometown favorite brand that has experienced rapid growth and is ready to take its next step. It was when the Alima’s shared their plans for future growth and their need for more space that our concept for Union Collective began to take shape,” said Adam Benesch, co-founder of Union Craft Brewing. “David and Laura have a passion for ice cream like we do for beer. We cannot wait to see what new flavors and experiences come from the Ice Cream Factory.”
